About the journal

Research by students, reviewed as if it matters.

The International Journal of Medical Research is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal publishing original research, case reports, reviews and short communications led by medical students.

Our mission

Student-led research deserves a proper editorial home. IJOMR was founded to give it one, and to hold every manuscript to the same review standard as work written by physicians.

Publishing with IJOMR costs a small fee, from ₹800 per article, kept low on purpose so students can afford it. In return, every accepted manuscript is reviewed by a real editorial board, copyedited, typeset and placed in a quarterly issue, with a permanent record of its own. Reading is always free. See pricing.

Open access

Free for everyone to read. Priced fairly to publish.

Real peer review

A real editorial board and two independent reviewers per submission.

Quarterly issues

Four issues a year.

Aims & scope

IJOMR welcomes work from medical students at any stage of training, in any country or curriculum, provided the student is a substantive contributor and not simply a listed name. We value sound methodology and honest reporting over novelty for its own sake. A well-run replication or a carefully documented case is as welcome as a large cohort study.

  1. Original research

    Clinical, translational or educational studies.

  2. Case reports

    Cases with clear educational value.

  3. Systematic & scoping reviews

    Rigorous syntheses of existing evidence.

  4. Short communications

    Preliminary findings and focused reports.

  5. Perspectives

    Medical education and student wellbeing.

Editorial policy

Every submission goes through double-blind peer review. Authors must disclose all funding sources and conflicts of interest. IJOMR follows the ICMJE authorship criteria and the COPE code of conduct for editors.

Policies on research ethics, corrections and retractions are available on request while the journal builds out its indexing.

Ownership & governance

IJOMR is run by a volunteer student editorial board, with oversight from affiliated faculty advisors. Full governance details will be published here once the editorial board is finalized.
